How to lie on your CV

Never ever say you were an Intern on your CV.

Especially if you are applying for full-time roles.

Saying you were an Intern is giving:

Amateur
Too junior
Not important

And will most likely land your CV at the bottom of the pile.

Instead, just put the name of the department you worked in.

That's exactly what I did when I was looking for a full-time role after 4 months as an Intern.

This approach helped me:

• Secure an interview with the biggest Investment Bank.
• Land multiple interviews with top Private Equity firms.
• Secure a £65K Associate role in Asset Management.

Now you might be thinking: ”Stephen, what did you say when they asked what your actual position was in that department?”

I just said I was on a fixed-term contract 🤷🏾‍♂️

Which is technically not a lie...

Because by definition, an internship is a fixed-time contract.

This is giving important
Expert in your field
High in demand

Which will most likely land your CV at the top of the pile.

Imagine saying you are on a fixed-term contract in the ESG department of an International Energy and Services company.

This is giving climate expert.
Sustainability guru.
Greta Thunberg.

You are welcome (:

So if you're looking for some internships so you can eventually try this out, check out some new opportunities courtesy of Centrica.

PS: Try at your own risk innit x
